I have a lot of clients ask me "how should we dress for our session, what colors do we wear... HELP!"
First all let me preface by saying, wearing what makes you feel comfortable and what makes you feel most like yourself is always key, photography sessions are meant to be fun and stress-free, I don't want any reason why you may feel uncomfortable, it seldom makes for a lovely photo and I want your personalilty to shine through.
Now that we got the most important contributing factor out the way, the next in the line is the season, we all love fall for the spectacular colors it offers and it is a very popular time for photography sessions because of this. It's not hard to match and coordinate for this season, we all love the reds, oranges and deep greens and a lot of people like to go with a beige, neutral pallet, but also consider the print, I would suggest dressing in block colors or minimally distracting/busy print on clothing, too much print can cause you to blend in with the already busy background of the fall leaves, see a few example below.

Lets talk summer now, my personal favorite season; it's warm, the nights are long and don't get me started on the AMAZING sunsets over Lake Erie! Bright, airy colors for the win. This season is the one you can for sure get away with wearing print, pretty floral designs, stripes and pastels scream "summer is here!"

WINTER! This one goes without saying but I will include a little advise none the less, sweaters, sweaters and more sweaters! Not too many poeple opt for a session during our harsh Ohio winter months but If you're feeling brave and adventurous I'm here for it. All that being said I do love to photograph in the winter, It has it's quailties; dressing up all cosy, acessorizing with cute hats, scarfs and gloves, using props like hot chocolate, toboggans and blanets.
Due to there not being much color in winter, I advise to have your session when we have had a lovely snow fall, you will certanly stand out on the picturesque white background. I suggest winter colors like dark greens, reds, navy blues, plaid and black also works very well together. My personal favourite is adding a little pop of color and keeping the rest neutral or monotone, you can also keep a trend going by including that pop of color into a diffeent artical of clothing for each person included in the session.
